Fun Facts
- An average woman’s skin absorbs hundreds of different nasty chemicals that are included in skin care, cleansing and other products. Most of what you put on your skin directly enters your bloodstream. Read the labels, be aware of what you are putting on your skin. To start, take just one ingredient on the back of some commercial products. Google it. Become aware of it. It will help you distinguish between what is harming you and what is benefiting you.
- Not all products labeled natural or organic are truly natural or organic. It was very difficult to find certified cosmetics on the market that were made exclusively from natural, organic ingredients. Today, still most of the products sold as natural cosmetics do not contain 100% natural ingredients! Face serums, lotions and creams have up to 90% water as their main ingredient. This is a sign that synthetic substances need to be added to stop bacteria from growing. Using this kind of products can lead to allergies, endocrine imbalances and all kind of problems.
- The main natural standards such Ecocert and Cosmos Seal allow 5 % synthetic substances in the certified products and various acids, alkalis, salts and other ingredients that are on my NO list! Other ingredients may contain up to 2% petrochemicals.
- Water is included in the definition of natural or organic content. This makes it easy to certify water-based products as natural or organic, since they are 80-90% water. If you exclude water from these calculations, some of these products would not qualify as natural or organic. Not to mention that you are actually paying for water, chemicals and extremely diluted actives (if there are any).
- This is why I choose to use mostly water-free products in my treatments. The products that I use are highly concentrated, rich in active ingredients: vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. They penetrate deeper and are mainly multi-purpose: all-in-one organic serums, masks, unguents, butters, etc.
- So natural that you can eat them! You can also apply them around sensitive areas of the skin such as the eyes and mouth. That is why they lead to impressive results. They may reduce wrinkles, banish dark spots and keep your skin soft and hydrated all day long.
